Garlic Smashed Potatoes

If you want non-skin on potatoes, then peel and remove the skin of the potatoes, otherwise start by quartering each potato and place in large pot of water and bring to slow boil. Cook until fork tender, drain, and mash/smash the potatoes in a large bowl. While potatoes are cooking, in a sauce pan slowly melt 1-2 sticks of unsalted butter and 3-5 (vary based upon your taste) finally chopped or pressed garlic cloves. Just before adding melted butter and garlic into smashed potatoes, add about 1/2 cup or so of sweet cream into butter mixture, combine and add to potatoes. Mix and mash until desired consistency and salt to taste. Finish with a light sprinkle of fresh ground cloves or nutmeg if you like. Allow about an hour to prepare this dish. For fun you might want to add some sour cream to kick this up a notch or two!
